Special Olympics Unified Sports® is an inclusive sports program that combines an approximately equal number of Special Olympics athletes (individuals with intellectual disabilities) and partners (individuals without intellectual disabilities) on teams for training and competition.
Special Olympics College engages University of Alabama students to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities through sports, friendship, advocacy, and other activities all the while promoting social inclusion. Through a partnership with University Recreation, SO College offers Unified Sports Rivalry Games in Flag Football and Basketball. Previous opponents include: Auburn, Ole Miss, and LSU. Intramural Sports also offers Unified Leagues for Basketball and Flag Football.
