The University of Alabama has four swimming pools located on campus to serve the students, faculty, and staff of the University as well as the surrounding community. The Aquatic Center, home to The University of Alabama Swimming and Diving team, is complete with a 50-meter Olympic pool with diving platforms and an outdoor 25yd by 25m pool equipped with heating and cooling systems for year-round pool temperature comfort. These facilities allow University Recreation to offer a variety of aquatic programming including swim lessons for all ages and abilities, lifeguard training, CPR/AED training, First Aid training, lifeguard instructor training, and Water Safety Instructor training.
University Recreation Aquatics offers a wide selection of American Red Cross Health and Safety Training Courses for students, faculty, staff, and the general community.
Due to restrictions regarding COVID-19 safeguards, advanced reservation of a lap lane is required, serving no more than two swimmers per lane.
University Recreation’s Swim Lessons is open to full-time UA students and current University Recreation Members. We offer familiarization classes for toddlers 19 months to 3 years old, a pre-swim development class for preschoolers 3-5 years old, and swim lessons for youth age 6 years old through adults.
