The University of Alabama Women’s Rugby Football Club was founded in 2009 and has been growing ever since. A few women that wanted to play, started practicing with the men’s team, until they recruited enough to form their own team. Now we have over 30 members and 30+ alumni. We were the Southern Independence Rugby Conference Division 2 Champions in 2015, and have continued to further our progress towards national recognition each season. Our club is not only about learning how to play an exciting sport, it’s about creating a community. We take former cheerleaders, soccer, volleyball, and softball players as well as people who have never played a sport before, and transform them into rough n’ tough ruggers. In this process of learning and working hard together, we form bonds unlike any other and make friends for life—not just on our team, but with teams from all over the south.

How to Get Involved:  We don’t hold tryouts and there are no limitations to how many women can join our team. We will teach you everything you need to know to be the best rugger you can be. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us through email, social media, or any other method of contact provided.
