Protest

Section 1.

General: Protesting the aspects of a contest or the completion of a contest is the right of the intramural participant.
The following procedure outlines the process by which protests are reviewed by Intramural Sports.

Article 1.

Types of Protests: There are two types of protests that are allowed by Intramural Sports. Eligibility status of player (s) and rule interpretation/penalty enforcement. At no times are protests allowed based on judgment calls.

A

Eligibility Status: Participants have the right to protest the eligibility status of an opposing player 5(s). The procedure is to identify the suspected in-eligible player(s) and notify an intramural supervisor during or after the contest. Eligibility protests can be filed at any time during the regular season. During the playoffs of an activity, eligibility protests must be filed before 12:00pm of the next day immediately following the contest .

Rule Interpretation : Participants also have the right to protest what that believed has been an error in the interpretation or administration of a rule or policy. Protests of this format need to be brought to the attention of the officials or intramural supervisor before the next play of the contest takes place. Many of the protests of this nature can be resolved quickly on-site. If however, you believe that the interpretation or administration affected the outcome of the contest, you have the right to protest the contest through the normal procedures.

Article 2.

Protest Procedure: All protests must follow the format listed below:

A

Submit a type written letter explaining the day/time of the game, opponent, original outcome of the game and a brief explanation of reason for protest. Please be as detailed as possible,( i.e. 4th and goal on our 19 yard line, #20 on the opponents team, etc.).State your interpretation of the rule or administration if applicable. Please also include your name, and day time phone number.

Include a check for $10.00- checks payable to the University of Alabama (funds will be returned if the protest stands and the original decision of the contest is reversed).

C

Submit the above required documents to the Intramural Sports office as soon as possible (before 12:00pm on the next day following the protested contest during playoffs)

The Intramural Staff will research the protested information and make a ruling of either upheld or a reversal depending on the information provided by you, game officials and intramural supervisor staff. Contact will then be made to alert the protester on the decision of the staff, usually with-in a couple of hours of the original submission of the protest.All decisions of the Intramural Sports office are final.
